SGIA-SWML-20250708 Quantum Computing Software Market Landscape
Despite the large number of companies building quantum processor unit (QPU) hardware, none of those devices will work without software. The software can be used for implementing quantum computing algorithms and applications, as well as for designing and controlling processors during operation.
In this market landscape, we examine the dozens of vendors and service providers now developing quantum computing software for use by their customers or themselves. We list their company data and the types of software they are building, including applications. We provide charts illustrating the distribution of the companies by country and geographic region. For countries with the most development, we display the location of companies by city, state, province, or region. We show the years the companies were founded and the significant increase in incorporation in the last ten years. For each private company for which public information is available, we show their investors and funders, as well as the companies in which those organizations have invested or funded. To keep you informed about the latest developments and announcements from companies, we provide a curated collection of recent press releases, blog entries, and updates.
We do not cover end-users or developers, such as financial institutions, aerospace companies, and pharmaceutical companies. They, along with the algorithms and applications they are working on, will be the focus of a future report.
This is a market landscape report, not a data analysis. Such analysis is present in other reports, commentary, and talks by Sutor Group Intelligence and Advisory.
Appendix A is a table of companies creating software for quantum computing.
Appendix B includes two tables: the first lists companies and their investors and funders, and the second lists all those investors and funders, along with the companies in this report that they have funded.
Appendix C lists recent press releases, announcements, and blog posts by the companies.
Appendix D lists the countries in each region.
Appendix E is a glossary of technical terms used in this report, courtesy of Perplexity.
